I cannot remain silent

As a woman of colour and mom to 2 boys, one with additional needs, living in a broken and marginalised society.

I can’t stop thinking about the future of my kids in the society we live in now.

If things don’t change, what does the future look like.

I cannot sit and watch what’s happening in America like it’s a movie.

I cannot unseen what my eyes has seen

I cannot pretend it does not happen in this nation too. This is our world

I cannot remain silent

l can call for justice

I can speak for the voiceless

I can uphold the hurting by listening to them

I can hold their hands

I can say kind words

I can shift my perspective heavenwards

I realise it is a big mountain to climb, but,

I cannot remain silent

As a believer, l know my voice will be heard, therefore,

I will pray for peace and righteousness

I will use the power within me and call on Him

The One, whom the government is upon His shoulder, wonderful counsellor, prince of peace

I will lift my voice to the heavens on their behalf

I will decree and declare the word of God

I will hold onto the shield of faith,

I cannot remain silent

I will defend the rights of the poor

I will speak up for the helpless

I will consider my actions

I will stop and think before l speak

I will listen and empathise

I cannot remain silent

I cannot remain silent

“I cannot remain silent to the injustices.”
